Giving Up the Illusion That it's Supposed to be Easy
You’re out here trying to live your best life, but when it gets difficult you start thinking you aren’t on the right track. Sound familiar? We start questioning our path and what we’re doing, sometimes to an almost obsessive point of inactivity. All because it felt like work, it wasn’t as easy as we thought it’d be. We can start to take the challenge, not as an occasion to rise and grow, but as a sign that we should shrink back. When did we start believing that living our best life meant that it was going to be easy? Just out here drinking wine and eating cheese all day. Girl, that’s not real life. Not in an everyday, sustainable way.
Living your best life is working hard to make your dreams come true, standing in your values and boundaries even when it’s get hard and taking care of yourself first so you can show up in life for yourself and others in ways that you see fit. I don’t know about you, but that sounds like work to me.
When we let go of the idea that living our best life isn’t going to involve effort, we may start actually living our best life instead of waiting for permission or the perfect circumstances to do so.
A lot of us are writing out goals for the coming year, but I’m making this my right now goal- to give up the illusion that it’s supposed to be easy, and just do it. What are your goals for the rest of the year, from today onward?
as always happy reading,
